Position Purpose

 

Responsible for the general preparation, service, storage, and clean-up of food within the kitchen along with the care and maintenance of supplies and equipment used within the food service department.  Develops and promotes good community relations among various community and school clientele. 

 

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Ability to follow follow both written and oral directions. 
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with students, staff and community.  
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize within tasks assigned. 
  • Assists in the preparation and serving of food in an efficient, friendly, and timely manner.  
  • Assists in the clean-up of the kitchen area in an efficient, thorough and timely manner as establilshed by the supervisor.
  • Assists in maintaining a sanitary and safe environment in the kitchen, storage, and all areas utilized. 
  • Assists in the proper storage, handling, inventory, and organization of food, food service supplies and equipment. 
  • Maintains effective organizational, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills. 
  • Follows all applicable safety rules, procedures and regulations governing school nutritional programs.
  • Reports all unsafe conditions/activities to supervisor and administration. 
  • Assist and works collaboratively with all school personnel, students, and families. 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

  1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel. 
  2. The work requires the use of telephone and using fingers to operate computer or typewriter keyboards.

  4. The employee is required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  5. Ability to be on feet up to eight hours every day. The work is mostly walking and standing with periods of sitting. 
  6. Typical positions require workers to lift and carry up to 50 pounds; climb stairs, bend and crouch; reach, hold, grasp and turn objects; use fingers to operate computer or typewriter keyboards; and feel the shape, size and temperature of objects. 
  7. The work requires the ability to speak normally, to use normal or aided vision and hearing, detect odors, identify colors, see, write, count, read, speak, analyze, alphabetize, perceive depth, operate a motor vehicle, and operate motor equipment. 
  8. Conditions include working inside and outside, working around machines with moving parts and moving objects, working closely with others, working alone, and traveling by car, van, bus.
