Technology Supervisor (2024-25 School Year)

 

Description & Details

The Technology Supervisor/Director is the primary IT professional responsible for all technology-related functions in the school district. This includes supporting the Student Information System (SIS), maintaining IT infrastructure, equipment and software, and providing comprehensive tech support. This is a part-time stipend position without comprehensive benefits. Hours and salary are subject to change based on contractual obligations with other parties. Stipend is currently set at $10,000.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist teachers and administrators in the development and implementation of a comprehensive and continuously improving technology plan for the district. 
  • Assist and support the Student Information System (SIS) and ensure its optimal operation.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive technology strategies and policies.
  • Manage all hardware and software, including installation, maintenance, and upgrades.
  • Ensure network security, data privacy, and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Provide hands-on technical support for all technology issues across the district.
  • Train and assist staff and students in effectively utilizing technology.
  • Coordinate the acquisition and inventory of consumable supplies and replacement components for instructional computers. 
  • Administer servers, network devices, and other critical IT infrastructure.
  • Manage technology budget, procurement, and vendor relationships.
  • Oversee the integration of technology into educational programs.
  • Maintain an inventory of all technology equipment and software licenses.
  • Work collaboratively with District Technology consultant
  • Works directly with facilities to implement security equipment, telephone systems, event setup, or any other special requests required by the district
  • Support the district’s compliance with copyright laws and other ethical and legal guidelines related to technology. 
  • Stay current with technology trends and innovations relevant to education.

Qualifications:

  • Some college or technical training in Information Technology or related fields is preferred.
  • Broad experience in managing various IT systems, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Strong knowledge of network infrastructure, cybersecurity, and educational technology.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and training skills.

Experience and/or Knowledge:

  • Proven expertise in managing and troubleshooting a variety of IT systems, including networks, servers, and cloud-based services.
  • Experience in managing a Student Information System (SIS), including implementing updates and integrating new functionalities.
  • Background in cybersecurity practices, including experience in implementing security protocols and responding to security incidents.
  • Knowledgeable in educational technology trends, including e-learning platforms and classroom technology integration.
  • Experience in developing and managing IT budgets, including cost analysis and procurement processes.
  • Skilled in project management, capable of leading technology initiatives from conception to implementation.
  • Proficient in providing training and support to a diverse user base, adapting communication styles to meet varying technical understanding.
  • Familiarity with data privacy laws and regulations relevant to student information, such as FERPA.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with educational and administrative staff to align technology solutions with educational goals.
  • Capacity to effectively manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts for technology services and products.

  8. Conditions include working inside and outside, working around machines with moving parts and moving objects, working closely with others, working alone, and traveling by car, van, bus.
