Description & Details

Cotopaxi Consolidated Schools, located in School District Fremont RE-3, is currently seeking a Principal to direct and oversee the operations of the Cotopaxi School, assess needs and design programs to increase student achievement, and conduct evaluations, discipline, budgeting, and daily school administration. This is a full-time, or 1.0 FTE, position with benefits. Yearly salary begins at $64,000 with potential for higher compensation based on experience.



Responsibilities:

  • Leads strategic change that continuously elevates and sustains high-quality educational programs and opportunities directed at improving student outcomes.
  • Analyzes educational needs of community and related parental concerns
  • Develop a positive school culture that recognizes staff and student voices
  • Develops and oversees the implementation of programs
  • Uses the accountability process and reports to parents as appropriate
  • Ensures all staff are knowledgeable and trained on various emergency response protocols.
  • Evaluates and supervises staff in meeting academic needs
  • Directs professional staff in aligning curriculum/instruction to support standards
  • Selects staff and assigns related duties and responsibilities
  • Evaluates staff effectiveness and instructional strategies and develops plans for improvement
  • Establishes and oversees the management of daily school activities and events
  • Administers district attendance policy
  • Works with faculty and students to develop a student discipline management system that results in positive student behavior and enhances the school climate.
  • Ensures student discipline is responsive, timely, and consistent, including families whenever possible.
  • Attends student activities and events
  • Supervises classrooms, hallways, lunchroom and outside campus
  • Directs the implementation of the school discipline model
  • Supports staff in curriculum and professional development and in coordinating and implementing special projects
  • Maintains contact and collaborates with students, parents, and staff to ensure a safe and productive learning environment of continuous improvement
  • Counsels students, staff, and parents as needed and responds to student concerns
  • Represents school in outside activities
  • Serves on district committees and community groups
  • Attends/supervises extracurricular student activities and functions
  • Attends E-training for evaluator effectiveness
  • Administer Science of Reading Training
  • All building leadership responsibilities typically assigned to a K-12 Principal
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  1. Master's degree in education or education-related field
  2. Valid Colorado Initial or Professional School Principal License required
  3. Classroom teaching and/or administrative experience preferred
  4. Ability to lead, inspire, motivate, and involve others to create quality learning and work environments for students and staff.
  5. Ability to communicate and mediate effectively with students, parents, staff, and the community to ensure a safe and productive learning environment

 

Experience and/or Knowledge:

  • Demonstrate both leadership and management skills, work well with staff and the community, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Advanced skill in working with students and staff with diverse needs at various levels.
  • Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computer, word processing software and basic office equipment. English language skills required.

  8. Conditions include working inside and outside, working around machines with moving parts and moving objects, working closely with others, working alone, and traveling by car, van, bus.
