Position Purpose

Responsible for the transport of student to and from school and other sites within designated route(s) and to ensure the safety and supervision of the student passengers while in a school vehicle.  Employees in this classification receive general supervision within a framework of standard policies and procedures.  Develops and promotes good community relations among various community and school clientele. 

Essential Job Functions

• Drives a school transportation vehicle within a prescribe route(s) in accordance with time schedules; pick up and discharging students at designated stops.
• Transports students and staff on field trips and athletic activities; following necessary routes and stops as needed.
• Maintains order and proper discipline of student passengers according to district policy. 
• Conduct safety and operational inspection of assigned vehicle daily. 
• Reports needed mechanical and other repairs immediately to supervisor.
• Performs periodical safety drills as required by law; completing necessary reports upon request.  
• Completes periodic mileage and other reports including passenger counts. 
• Maintains cleanliness of vehicle to ensure safe operating condition; both inside and outside of the vehicle.
• Services vehicle as needed. 
• Attends various meetings regarding safety, first aid, and training updates as required. 
• Obtains and maintains appropriate certifications as required by Colorado law and district requirements.
• Perform related related duties as assigned or requested.

• Possession of a safe driving record.
• Knowledge of basic first aid and CPR practices, procedures, and techniques.

• Ability to establish and maintain proper student conduct on school vehicle.
• Ability to drive a school bus safety and efficiently.

• Ability to meet the physical requirements necessary to safely and effectively operate a school vehicle.
